STOP Train Horn Noise in Carroll!

Make Carroll a Better Place to Live

You can stop the noise...

Most Carroll residents that we’ve talked to thought they just had to live with interrupted conversations when visiting our downtown, or when watching a movie at the theater, or when eating outdoors at one of our great restaurants, or even when trying to sleep at night.

The GREAT news is that we don’t have to live with it! We can stop the noise without raising taxes. Tell the City Council you support the plan to stop train horn noise…

I have lived in Carroll all my life and was surprised to learn the train horns didn’t have to blow. I live nearly a mile away from the tracks and hear it in my house. Sometimes it awakens me in the early morning hours. Its time to fix this. I’m baffled why we didn’t stop this nuisance years ago.
I read in the newspaper that towns like Denison, Boone and Ames and even others have all solved this problem and don’t have to deal with the train horns disrupting business calls and conversations on the phone or just in the public. This is something that will benefit thousands of people every day. There’s over 70 trains running through town nearly every day blasting their horns a dozen times at each pass thru town. Let’s stop the nonsense!
Thank goodness the council is going to do something about the excessive ear piercing train horns blowing every day. I stopped sitting outside at the Rancho restaurant because it hurts my ears. My friends tell me they can hear it inside the businesses downtown too. It’s silly to not fix this issue..”
